2024 Herd Reduction

Why raise alpacas? To avoid their extinction! Alpacas have been domesticated for thousands of years, but due to past restrictions on exporting, terrorist, economic and other events, their world population was declining and is still quite small today.
However, alpacas are an amazing and wonderful, easy to keep/ easy on the land, and multipurpose farm animal. The world needs more alpacas! There's nothing else like the beautiful alpaca. Every product is intrinsically superior...the softest and warmest fleeces in rich natural colors, the leanest protein (if you so choose), "black gold" manure and the most adorable babies, called cria. Alpacas are easy to keep, graze fields without pulling the roots out, typically have mid-day births that usually need no assistance; are easy to train, safe to handle, and profitable.
New breeders always are needed for national herd growth and to replace retiring breeders. Feel an alpaca cria fleece, wear alpaca sweaters and socks...and you will become a believer too!

Beginning Spring 2024, the farm will be available for one hour educational alpaca treks on the beautiful back 12 acres. Or, how about group yoga or workouts with a territorial view and the alpacas might join in! Or, for birthday parties or to soak up some idyllic farm time there are two picnic tables. For those who are interested, my pack of English style Golden Retrievers are also available to take on walks. Stop by the Adna store on the way to the farm for the best burgers, fries and shakes, soft serve ice cream and much more which you can bring to the farm to enjoy. We also have alpaca products...sweaters, vests, capes, blankets, socks, etc. Reservations required.

If you don't hear back within a day, please call the land line: (360) 748-3011...or just call the land line because it's reliable!

2024: Need to reduce herd size. List prices have been lowered. All females are sold with a breeding and guarantees.

Heart-felt thank you to all who have purchased alpacas from KCAF over the years. Some of KCAF's alpacas have garnered top awards for other breeders, or were a significant contribution to their successes.

EPDs: The herd's EPDs reflect the staying power of the alpaca's fleeces. Professional shearers have also told us that the herd is one of the finest and highest yielding per alpaca.

Bred for: health, soundness, type, longevity, efficient reproduction and lactation along with the most amazing soft, silky, uniform huacaya alpaca fleece with minimal to no guard hair and exceptional handle and drape, uniformity with high frequency crimp, high brightness, length, and a high yield of lingering fleece for at least the first five years. See Trufflina son, Constantino and his offspring, Flint and Summer Ember, both who received judge's choice fleece awards for their sixth and seventh fleeces. Our herd's blue ribbon winning matriarch, Trufflina (daughter of P. Andrajo, an Alianza import) produced 13 crias and abundant milk...the best was a one pound per day gain for nine days on her daughter, Carmelina (her 6th cria) and Trufflina's fleece also placed first over a Futurity champion (P. Microsoft) under judge Julie Skinner (Snowmass Alpacas). "Future of the industry" champion Constantino (a Trufflina son!) placed high in the ribbons for five years and at 14 years old sired two blue ribbon winning sons! Staying power means that you can combine the first 5 to 6 fleeces from the same alpaca for extremely uniform yarn.

The main goal is to perpetuate the species for future generations because the real success of our efforts must last long after we've passed our torch to the next keepers of the herds.
